Winchester Go LD
Project Category: Registered charity
Winchester Go LD supports adults with learning disabilities (our Members) and their families. We have over 100 Members living in and around Winchester. Our charity is fully inclusive, welcoming new Members to all activities and with no fee to join us. We are passionate about promoting choice for our Members and in assisting them to discover and reach their potential. To achieve this we provide quality information, signposting, advocacy, listening, support, social activities and sport. We promote independence by running workshops to build confidence and communication skills, to educate and provide daily living skills, computer training and work readiness. We help our Members use local services and to integrate within the community. We also support Members into employment and voluntary work. All our activities aim to build confidence, skills, physical and mental well-being and offer choice and to encourage Members to live as independently as possible. As a small charity we understand that we need to make the most of every penny. We operate as tight a budget as possible so we can maximise the volume of activities that we provide. Funding support means that we can help more people with learning disabilities access our services and attend our activities. Funds raised make a huge difference to our primary aim of helping the people we support to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. The continued pressure on funding for social care means more and more individuals rely on support from organisations like ours. The funding we receive from the local community helps us to extend the reach of our current projects and allow us to plan new services and give us the means to provide the one-offs and the added extras that make our support life changing.
