  • Our Story

We will undertake a litter pick of the stream and the surrounding banks and walkways. Rubbish will be raked from the top layer of silt and volunteers will wade into the middle of the river to remove deposited rubbish. We will aim to remove any problem branches and dead wood that are in or overhanging the Wantz stream that are not considered beneficial to the habitat. Invasive species removal, including Himalayan Balsam, will be undertaken. Floating golf balls from an upstream golf course will also be removed. Our aim is to maximise the biodiversity value of the waterway We have a large number of wildfowl and wading birds on site, it is of interest to maintain the waterways for their benefit and we aim to attract a more diverse number of species following our waterway clean up. We also want the stream and surrounding area to become more aesthetically pleasing for local residents to be able to enjoy the park, to value it and not add to litter through fly tipping or other destructive activities.
