Our Story
Welcome to our project which involves a plot of land for Community Food Growing. The area is about 60 sq foot, In the Hampden Park area.
We have planted local to Sussex grown fruit trees, nut trees and fruit bushes, created edible food growing areas, using different techniques, Permaculture, Forest Gardening.
There is a shed and small pond to enhance wildlife. We started this project in Nov 2008. Now 2018, there are fully established fruit and nut trees now, with a huge harvest of fruit.
This area has been looking after itself for over a year now, with minimal input but the wildlife and biodiversity has grown because of this. To include slow worms, toads, frogs and birds.
We’ve had various work days there this year to just maintain and monitor, and will be applying for further funding to run some workshops in the spring next year. There is a Facebook group if you would like to know more
