  • Our Story

The project provides access and inclusion for the frail and elderly, and those with moderate disabilities, to attend health and medical appointments as well as recreational, wellbeing and social activities.

It covers many forms of transport needs eg. supported shopping, attending day centres, visits to loved ones in hospital or in care, social clubs and community events, as well as vital appointments at hospitals and Doctors’ surgeries.

We also provide transport for several specialist organisations to take clients to exercise sessions, befriending groups, postural stability classes and lunch clubs.

Transport is organised through a small team of paid employees and fulfilled by local dedicated volunteer drivers who give their time free of charge.  They assist the client into the car, and at their appointment, wait with them if the visit is to be less than two hours, and then return them safely home.

In 2014, the service received more than 9000 requests for transport, completed in excess of 8,400 drives and helped more than 700 clients.

Our aim is to provide an affordable service to meet the essential transport needs of the elderly and frail of North West Kent. ‘Community Transport’ is the vital link as for many, even a walk to the bus stop is a step too far!
