    Growing Projects

Our Growing Projects allow volunteers to grow organic food, almost on their doorstep for personal use and to supply our cafe and lunch clubs.

We try to utilise spare bits of land that are close our other community activities, using raised beds, so that growing food can be celebrated as an accessible, inclusive and social activity.

We currently grow food in St Mary’s church (Bramall Lane), St Bart’s church (Walkley), St Cuthbert’s (Fir Vale) and will be shortly putting out raised beds in homes throughout the city.

We know that the therapeutic benefits for all involved are as important as producing food to supply our Community Cafes. We need volunteers to help organise and lead the project.

    Communal Workshop project

The communal workshop is a place to share tools, materials and community spirit. Like a garden shed, but bigger, cheaper and friendlier! Anyone can join and use its facilities on non-commercial projects. One of the project’s aims is deal with isolation and ill-health by providing a purposeful and supportive place. We also build raised beds to be used in the garden project.
