Our Story
We’re exploring and celebrating aspects of Unity by collecting personal creative responses from any community voices who wish to contribute. ‘Unity’ for this project covers social unity and diversity (nearby and at a distance), unity with nature and your environment, personal wellbeing and balance. Please join in!
The Unity Book is a community collaborative project inspired by the digital Kendal Unity Festival 2020, and created with the work of communities. It is headed by Jemima Longcake, one of the Festival’s 2020 organisers alongside the support of Charles Whitehead and Erika Ghinelli. Any profits from the sale of the book will go towards existing community improvement projects.
We are inviting contributions until Monday July 27th 2020 in any media that will fit in a printed book: poems, drawings, photos, song lyrics, recipes, reportage….have a look at the samples on our Facebook page! Email with content or queries to jemimarehl@gmail.com
You can also contribute by helping us fundraise for production costs. Thank You! Please see our GoFundMe page at gf.me/u/ydz3qs
We are creating The Unity Book fast to capture the energy from the Kendal Unity Festival and also to reflect the current transition we are all experiencing in lockdown and the pandemic. After printing in August we will tour the book to community events and workshops to act as a catalyst for exploring the multiple values of Unity.
