I am starting a wood recycling project in Croydon, London. The project is not-for-profit and a social enterprise with big social and environmental goals…

    1) ENVIRONMENTAL – the goal is to prevent as much timber going to landfill and re-using it as much as possible. This will be from collecting waste wood (mainly from the construction sector, but also demolition, residential, council etc) and selling it as timber, or making products & furniture out of it.

    2) SOCIAL – we will be focusing on taking local marginalized people from the community (eg. people with disabilities; long-term unemployed; ex offenders) and offering them volunteering opportunities with the potential of becoming a paid member of staff as revenue is generated from sale of product (that the volunteers may make from reclaimed wood), sale of timber and collection charges.

We are part of the community wood recycling network. Please click the following link for the National Community Wood Recycling web page –
