Teaching Liverpool To Cook – Cook off Events
Project Category: Other
Can Cook have been running our ‘Teaching Liverpool to Cook’ TLC campaign for two years now and in 2014 we aim to teach 2500 people to cook.
This year the campaign has become even more important in the light of the cuts and rising food prices. As the sixth richest nation in the world the UK is facing an unprecedented growth in food poverty. In excess of half a million are recipients of food aid in the UK and a Which survey across a section of the population 1 in 5 UK households (5 million) borrow money or use savings to cover food costs. Even those who could only a short time ago afford to feed themselves are now at financial breaking point – Food banks are becoming the only lifeline for many families.
