  • Our Story

Tailored Yarn writes and illustrates bespoke books for families with terminal illness to preserve children’s memories in a unique literature legacy. I’vc written my first book for a really close friend with muscular dystrophy. Her niece and nephew have a lovely fictional story with personal details, memories, characters and a relevant message that remind them how special their aunty is. I hope to also do free workshops in local hospices so that I can get to know staff and families as I’m offereing them this beautiful gift free of charge.

The idea is like memory boxes but instead comes in the form of a specially written story to be left to children when one of their parents has been diagnosed with a life limiting condition. I’m a mother of three and although I’ve never had a diagnosis myslef I’ve imagined myself in these shoes and thought what would I most want to leave to my kids who absolutely adore reading. Books have the power to shape our lives and leave a lasting imprint on our hearts.
