  • Our Story

STAND is a voluntary group of people with an interest in access for people with disabilities. They are the experts in how to make changes to remove the barriers which make life difficult or impossible to be a functioning member of society. Rights enshined in the Equality Act 2010 are often not known about or ignored. STAND exists to raise awareness of issues and campaign to make changes, These can be as simple as a shop using higher pwered bulbs to enable partially sighted people to see to use their credit cards, to meetings with planners to contribute to new buildings not only being compliant with the law but also fit for purpose.
We do not charge for membership which can be done via our website stand-stoke.org.uk as many disabled people struggle financially, but we do welcome donations to enable us to function.
