Special Interest Group for Young People with Autism

Our Story
We run two Special Interest Groups every Saturday with a range of themes, creating an environment where autistic young people can develop social skills and friendships.
For these young people, taking part in activities that are related to their special interests, can be powerfully motivating for them to try new experiences.
These children and young people often find themselves isolated because their ability to understand and relate to other people is significantly affected; indeed part of the diagnostic criteria is persistent difficulties with social communication and social interaction. Being in a social situation can thus lead to heightened anxiety. All of which can lead to them being isolated at home with few or no friends or opportunities for socialising.
We welcome young people from the age of 9 up to 25, giving stability at significant periods of transition.
