Our Story
South West London Environment Work (SWLEN) is a charity dedicated to helping people and organisations protect and enhance the environment.
We work in the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames, Kingston upon Thames and Hounslow.
We help local environmental groups with everything from getting started and raising funds to administration and best practice. We facilitate collaboration between groups, ensuring they work together towards the common goal of improving the environment.
SWLEN chairs and acts as the Secretariat of the Richmond Biodiversity Partnership.
SWLEN also undertakes targeted community energy efficiency work in our communities.
SWLENs work spans three distinct areas:
- Parks and open spaces supporting local initiatives to protect and enhance local green spaces.
- Species and habitat protection facilitating the preservation of local biodiversity, and promoting the conservation and improvement of the natural environment.
- Sustainability and community development projects encouraging and educating local people and organisations to think and act sustainability, including saving energy, raising awareness of the benefits of recycling and waste reduction, composting, food growing, water conservation, and air quality.
