Welcome to Skipton Community Orchestra, a recently set up musical venture. The orchestra was set up in January 2012 by two local mums who felt there was a need for an orchestra which is open to all abilities, whether members are just learning a musical instrument or are experienced players who have not picked up their instruments for a long while.

The orchestra meets twice a month in the evening. There is no need to commit to coming to every rehearsal – it is “pay as you play”. Our rehearsals are fairly informal and we play a variety of well-known classical works as well as some more contemporary pieces.

The orchestra is very grateful to the following organisations and businesses for their generous support: Skipton Rotary Club, Skipton Town Council, Skipton Mechanics Institute, Skipton Gala Committee, The Craven Trust, The North Yorkshire Fund, The Two Ridings Community Foundation and Skipton Building Society Grassroots Giving Award.
