A collaborative project created by Hub Art and Tardis Arts where children, teens and their families (many from disadvantaged backgrounds and with behaviour issues) created their own theatres, puppets and stories. The stories evolved through a combination of art, literacy and drama. Many of the participants were too shy to perform on stage, so their stories were filmed and collaborated into a collective film, which was shown on a final celebration night to other family members. This project brought together children from diverse backgrounds, ages and abilties from 4-15 years, many were shy and struggled to mix intially but by the end the group bonded well and all members have continued to attend Hub Art sessions. The two facilitators mentored university students volunteers who helped in the sessions, who wish to work in social work and SEN after the completion of their degrees. The project was kindly funded by the Greggs Foundation. Hub Art continues with the children developing their stories and illustrations for book ideas. They will meet a published author who will talk about her experiences and parts of their stories and illustrations will be shared here in future posts!
