Save Wolverton’s Swifts and Martins

Our Story
Our aim is to monitor and increase the number of swift nest sites within Wolverton. We started just before the first lockdown in March 2020 and we have been surveying existing nest-sites and hawking routes, logging several “natural” nest sites. Thanks to our local community we have installed over 140 new swift and house martin nestboxes on residents’ houses and other buildings around the town.
Swifts are only with us from May till August and only land when they’re ready to nest, lay eggs and breed their young. These amazing birds will fly continuously for perhaps 30,000 miles between leaving the nest and being ready to breed after 3 years or so, returning from Africa to the same area every year.
We regularly need installers with a head for heights!
