Ropewalk Community Garden is a green oasis in the inner city of Southampton.  Tucked behind the West Itchen Community Trust building on Derby Road, it’s a garden with trees, herbs, veg, flowers, even our own sculpture and play equipment!

We currently have volunteer sessions every Saturday and Sunday 12-3, and the garden is open for the local community to use Monday-Friday 9-5.

It’s a safe place for local children and local residents to play, garden, and get together.  Lots of people have had the opportunity over the years to learn how to grow food for the first time, and this summer local kids have been able to take home homegrown salad, potatoes, and strawberries among other things.

Run by a Friends group that keeps things ticking along nicely, we currently have the assistance for a few hours a week by an experienced gardener named Ian.
