Our Story
Peterborough Environment City Trust, Keep Britain Tidy and Anglian Water have been working together and have funded more than 40 RiverCare groups across the region, helping people care for their local stretch of river.
Groups of volunteers have been working together to clean out stretches of the River Nene, which has supported Peterboroughs ambition of becoming the UKs Environment Capital.
The scheme has been so successful that organisers have had to expand the project to include more groups.
RiverCare is a fantastic way for locals to get involved and do something practical to improve their local environment.
The water we drink, cook and wash with is the same water that flows through our rivers and the RiverCare groups are making sure there is enough for us and for wildlife.
This project is a great opportunity for local communities to work together to protect the important habitats for wildlife
