Outdoor People is a not-for-profit social enterprise, dedicated to making the outdoors easy, especially for children and families.

We are a great outdoors shop, we do research, we get involved in projects and campaigns and we work with others to get everyone, especially children, outdoors more!

Why? Because we can’t just think about the kind of planet we leave our kids, we have to also think about the kind of kids we leave our planet. Preferably healthy, happy ones that have had lots and lots of time to play outdoors, to explore, to make mistakes, get muddy and generally have a great childhood. That goes just as much for kids growing up here in Hackney as it does for those in Hampshire or the Highlands!

We take families camping, for wild walks and offer free and subsidised camping gear for families on low income and to youth groups near Hackney – and you can rent from us too, knowing all the money from rentals supports our projects!

We are currently fundraising for a welly exchange and to make an Outdoor Journal for families to encourage them to make an hour outdoors a day just part of every day… Find out more: https://www.gofundme.com/family-wild-walks-welly-fund
