Launched in September 2011, The Food Assembly is changing the way food is distributed by developing a platform where users group together to buy food directly from their local farmers and food makers.
Through its web platform The Food Assembly facilitates pop-up farmers markets in locations all around the city where users can meet the people that actually make their food and pick up fresh local produce and food.
The Food Assembly not only makes local commerce more efficient, it is also a truly collaborative network where all users can interact online and offline.
Here are some of the producers that will be supplying our Food Assembly:
Brockmans Farm Produce – Kent’s First Organic and Biodynamic Farm producing fruit and vegetables. Founded in 1953!
Lockies Shellfish – A family-run conduit for a small group of local day fishing boats based on the Isle of Sheppey (Kent). They officially catch the most local and freshest fish available in London and take them straight to Hackney Wick!
Marsh Produce – A family-run farm in Romney Marsh (Kent/Sussex) specialising in beef, pork, lamb, poultry, game and eggs
Snact – They make healthy fruit snacks using surplus food as a way to tackle food waste. So eating these are doing more than fuelling your day!
White Hat Bakery – A small team of passionate bakers working in Bow with wonderful produce and lots of ideas. Their mission is to create healthy, delicious bread.
