  • Our Story

Okehampton Community Garden started in April 2012.  We have a one acre site overlooking North Dartmoor.  On site we have a meeting space, compost toilet and polytunnel.  We aim to bring together members of the community to support and encourage gardening of all kinds, especially the growing of food. We will encourage the sharing and development of talents, to learn new skills and provide training for members and the wider community. We also aspire to provide a friendly meeting place and help integrate into the Okehampton Community Garden people who may be isolated within the wider community.

We hold regular gardening sessions on Tuesday and Thursday between 11am – 5pm.  We also run monthly volunteer Sunday’s and regular social events. Members have dawn ’til dusk access to the site and are encouraged to use the garden freely.  Membership is currently £10 for individuals and £20 for families and we operate a crop share based on hours worked in the garden.  We provide tools.  Coffee and tea are available, donations towards refreshments are always welcome.  We are a not-for-profit, constituted organisation.

Anyone is welcome to stop by the garden and just enjoy the space.
