Our Story
The Oasis Community Gardens is a project which has been developed on a 2 acre site in Worksop, Nottinghamshire by a group of volunteers. The site now has over 30 areas including growing spaces, play areas, specialist planting beds and polytunnels, raised beds and a dome greenhouse. It is now the site of many community events, is visited by over 10,000 people a year and is home to several gardening and planting enterprises which are therapeutic, educational and productive. Their most popular enterprises are ‘Flowers for Life’ and ‘Gardening for Life’. It is a really important place of belonging for the residents of the community of all ages.
The Oasis Community Gardens have won the Green Flag award or three years – the RHS Britain in Bloom – Community award for 5 years – Best Local Project in the UK Social Prescribing awards 2019 – A Finalist in the Groundworks Award in the category for ‘Best local Project on a Housing Estate – Was a finalist
