- Our Story
We are a Local Environmental Records Centre founded as a Heritage Lottery and European Development Fund Project in 2007. We continue through the support of the Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service and Sefton Council offering environmental data services to facilitate evidence based conservation, management, strategy and development.
With only a single member of staff our incredible volunteer community both in the office and across Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley and St Helens are absolutely vital for continuing to keep decisions informed, conservation targeted and strategic plans based on current information.
The volunteers we work with us our of their own extensive interest and experience. However, we also train volunteers in office based technical skills to improve employ ability and support skills sharing and mentoring via a network of local field naturalists.
Beyond our local focus our volunteers help to inform conservation and research at a UK and International level via the National Biodiversity Network and Global Biodiversity Information Facility.
