- Our Story
Carers and those living with Alzheimer’s often become extremely isolated due to the inconsistency and unpredictable behaviour of coping/living with this disease and change of lifestyle.
We have created a safe and welcoming environment where those attending are surrounded by vintage memorabilia to encourage and assist with conversation. Many carers are living with a constant repeat of statements, questions and conversations and seek more meaningful chats from others.
Albeit a small amount of respite from their responsibilities those who do attend our sessions have told us that the time they spend with us socialising with others who understand their situation has helped them to feel less lonely and gives them the assurances that they are not on their own in this situation. We have already created a solid social space and now wish to extend this service by offering meaningful activities as requested by many of our current beneficiaries.
This activity will involve the carer and the person being cared for creatinga wonderful memory related bespoke item. The majority of these will be jointly made memory boxes and/or memory topped tables although we are planning to include memory frames.
With the support from Greggs 4 Good we will serve aour activities with tea and biscuits known fondly as Activi-Teas to our group. The sessions will be free to attend and welcome all those who are in a caring or cared for position.
