  • Our Story

Manchester Histories is a growing and dynamic charity that works collaboratively with people, organisations, and partners to reveal, share and celebrate Greater Manchester’s diverse Histories and Heritage.

Manchester Histories works throughout the year delivering projects, training, exhibitions, events, networks and more with communities to recognise, explore and value histories. It also hosts Manchester Histories Festival.

Manchester Histories is recognised and respected by community groups, cultural organisations, universities and local authorities as an important delivery agency for growing grass roots social and cultural activity with a particular strength in enhancing community cohesion and pride.

We offer engagement services to local communities and creatives to bring histories to life. Our engagement with and empowerment of people both as creators and audiences, is specifically tailored towards them. So the co-created work is inclusive and is entirely in response to the people we work with and for. As a result, the work produced is naturally innovative, creative meaningful and improves the well-being and life chances of the people we work with.

An example of our work is on commemorating the 200thanniversary of the Peterloo Massacre
