Lovelace Gardening Club Sensory Garden
Project Category: School
- Our Story
We are a large, thriving primary school with a BIG heart, educating children in the localities of Hook & Chessington, Surrey. Situated in the south west of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, on the very edge of the greenbelt, we benefit from an extensive, green and beautiful school site.
The school grounds are attractive and spacious comprising of a woodland walk, bird hides, wildflower meadow, a large amphitheatre. There are attractive landscaped lawns in the front of the school and a large playing field at the rear, together with generous hard play areas. In addition we have allotments and an orchard and a stunning Estonian redwood pine outdoor science & nature education centre.
To complement our existing grounds, our after school gardening club have designed a small sensory garden which they would like to develop for all pupils to use during and after school. They have cleared an area of weeds and hope to complete the garden this year to include a ‘barefoot pathway’ (cobbles and pebbles), planted with shrubs and plants chosen for their scent, colour and touch.
