Thames21 runs the Welsh Harp Environmental Education Centre (WHEEC), adjacent to the Welsh Harp Reservoir in the London Borough of Brent. Within the 5ha of woodland with ponds and a small section of river Thames21 has been delivering sessions for primary schools, enabling local children to experience and learn from nature.

Thames21 is keen to expand this education work beyond the centre.  This new project, funded by the Greggs Foundation, will reach out to local schools and offer new educational experiences  including in-school learning sessions and education visits to new sites on the River Brent Catchment. New education sessions have been developed by Thames21’s education team that will improve the children’s understanding of key urban river pollution issues and encourage them to reflect on polluting and littering behaviours and suggest more environmentally friendly alternatives.
