  • Our Story…

The John Kearns School of Log Building is a new school providing comprehensive courses in log building, hand hewing and other forms of traditional carpentry in a stunning woodland in mid-Wales.

We want to bring a new dimension to UK forestry, timber construction, the rural economy, and skills and training, while also providing a platform for outdoor learning and outreach work with disadvantaged groups in our local community.

We are crowdfunding £63,000 to pay for equipment and labour to build a hand-hewn timber frame barn in our beautiful woodland near Llandrindod Wells, Powys. This will be the school’s base. We must reach our target by early March to enable the winter-felling of timber for the barn and to get a good start on hewing the barn’s timbers.
