  • Our Story

    Greenpeace need your help!

We are building a giant disco tree for the middle of our field at Glastonbury festival. It tells a story about the impact of plastic on our environment. It will be 20m tall, have a DJ booth in the trunk, and be covered in 15,000 flowers made from used plastic collected from the local community.

We’re after people to help make the flowers- it’s cutting, folding and knotting. Come and join the team on a beautiful peacock- filled farm in East London @ IG2 7TD.

We’ll be working from 9.30am-5pm this week and next week  (21-24th May), with 2x tea breaks, lunch, and drinks after work for those who want them.
We have a great workspace set up with all tools provided.
    The Tree…
    – 20m tall steel structure, to be covered in 15,000 flowers made from plastic rubbish we’ve collected from London/ Essex businesses and homes.
    – Will be professionally lit by some fantastic lighting designers, changing colour at night time
    – Has a DJ booth in the trunk, so will have a field of people parting around it for 5 days and nights!
    – Will get good media coverage
    – Tells a big story about the impact of plastic on our environment
    What Greenpeace are offering…
    – Professional photos and videos of the finished tree, ready to add to portfolios
    – The opportunity to work with the Greenpeace team, who are a creative hub producing many large artistic projects
    – Transport to/ from Newbury Park station (central line) to the workspace
    – The opportunity to work in a beautiful workspace on a large scale production
    – Volunteers will learn about various knots, cutting and folding techniques, storing and transporting large art pieces, and working as part of a big team
    – Lunch
    – Travel expenses
    – Tea, coffee, biscuits
    – End of work beers for those who want them!
    What Greenpeace are looking for…
    – Volunteers to come and assist in a large scale production make
    – 21st -24th May, at a beautiful peacock-filled farm in Newbury Park (central line). Volunteers don’t need to be available for the full 4x days, but a minimum of 2 days availability is preferred
