Greenpeace need your help!
We are building a giant disco tree for the middle of our field at Glastonbury festival. It tells a story about the impact of plastic on our environment. It will be 20m tall, have a DJ booth in the trunk, and be covered in 15,000 flowers made from used plastic collected from the local community.
We’re after people to help make the flowers- it’s cutting, folding and knotting. Come and join the team on a beautiful peacock- filled farm in East London @ IG2 7TD.We’ll be working from 9.30am-5pm this week and next week (21-24th May), with 2x tea breaks, lunch, and drinks after work for those who want them.We have a great workspace set up with all tools provided.The Tree…– 20m tall steel structure, to be covered in 15,000 flowers made from plastic rubbish we’ve collected from London/ Essex businesses and homes.– Will be professionally lit by some fantastic lighting designers, changing colour at night time– Has a DJ booth in the trunk, so will have a field of people parting around it for 5 days and nights!– Will get good media coverage– Tells a big story about the impact of plastic on our environmentWhat Greenpeace are offering…– Professional photos and videos of the finished tree, ready to add to portfolios– The opportunity to work with the Greenpeace team, who are a creative hub producing many large artistic projects– Transport to/ from Newbury Park station (central line) to the workspace– The opportunity to work in a beautiful workspace on a large scale production– Volunteers will learn about various knots, cutting and folding techniques, storing and transporting large art pieces, and working as part of a big team– Lunch– Travel expenses– Tea, coffee, biscuits– End of work beers for those who want them!What Greenpeace are looking for…– Volunteers to come and assist in a large scale production make– 21st -24th May, at a beautiful peacock-filled farm in Newbury Park (central line). Volunteers don’t need to be available for the full 4x days, but a minimum of 2 days availability is preferred– No tools needed, everything is provided- although if you have a pair of scissors you can bring, that’s be handy.
