As a relatively new More In Common Group, based here in Basildon Essex I will say first off, how much experience and knowledge we have gained by being part of the much wider More In Common family, and have learnt a great deal from what other Groups were planning.  Roll on next year!

We took the opportunity to increase our exposure across our Borough by frequent posting and videos on Social Media, and if I have manged to tackle the technology, you will see just a sample of these –  there are more.

The speakers included Local Councillors, The Mayor of Basildon and Leaders from a variety of religious groups as we aimed to drive home the message of inclusivity, which I feel we were successful in doing.

Keeping to my own Group, we held various functions, including raising the More In Common Basildon Borough Flag, over the Basildon Council Offices for the three day weekend.  There were various sing songs of what has become our group favourite “I want to teach the world to sing” as there are some very meaningful words contained in that number.  Members held various socially distanced get togethers with friends, neighbours and family members.  It was a really feel good weekend.

All in all, I truly believe that we were successful in getting out our message as quoted by the amazing Jo Cox in her maiden speech.
