Gelli Crug Allotments  has 5 bee hives set up. The aim of the project is to engage with the local community and local schools by having open days where they can take part in the inspection of the hives and  help to extract and jar up the honey. However, as the project is only in the first year we have not had all the funds to buy all the equipment needed for this venture. As a result, the Greggs funding will help to buy more bee keeping equipment such as hives, bee keeping suits, honey extractors and by setting up a ‘honey extracting shed’ on site at the allotment. The money will also be used to buy ‘bee firendly’ flowers that will be planted around the allotment
