Our Story
This summer we wanted to ensure that young people living in West Hendon did not miss out on being able to have a fun and active summer.
Due to covid-19 we had to think of new and safer ways to make the holidays enjoyable for the young people.
We decided to create an online platform where children could meet with their friends and experienced youth workers to talk about their feelings and play games. We also gave all young people the space to meet outside on their local green and get involved in non contact sports with children of their age group from Monday – Friday throughout the Holidays.
What was most important to us was to make sure that no young people in the area were left hungry during the holidays, so each day in the afternoon all young people were able to collect a take away meal from the hub at no cost to them. The meals which the young people had access to were nutritious and suitable for all dietary needs.
In the last week of the summer to round up all the fun we had, all young people involved in the summer programme were given the opportunity to take part in different off site trips which included; Brent Cross beach, Kayaking and Stand up paddle boarding.
