  • Our Story

This is a greening project, aiming to transform an unused space into a beautiful green space with raised garden beds and some seating. We will plant ornamental shrubs and flowers and some food plants like herbs and berries.

We would like to create a peaceful space taht the local community can use to rest as respite in this busy urban setting, which also encourages beneficial wildlife to help our environment.

Volunteers will help to research, design, build and maintain the Pocket Park, learning new gardening, building and art skills or sharing these skills with others. We would also like to use the space for small community events like gardening and art workshops and food sharing events.

We have been very fortunate to have been selected for a £5,000 grant by Transform/Project Dirt. Family Mosaic Housing Association are also supporting us with a £2,000 grant from their Maisie Sheed Trust.

In-kind donations have been pledged by City Studios Artist Group (re-cycled timber), ——- Stores SE5 (photocopying) and ——- (hardcore).

    Volunteers (so far…)

Gloria —– has volunteered her services as a Master Gardener and Deborah has volunteered her art skills for workshops. The Colonnades Greening Group will be playing a big role in the project, using the skills they learnt developing their own green space in a disused parking area in their building.
