  • Our Story

    Cultivate Cornwall CIC was founded in February 2016 by Harry Deacon and John Lakey whilst at Falmouth University. Lin Chapman joined in 2017 and now makes up the directors team.

    Having grown up in Cornwall ourselves we are passionate about the betterment of our communities and Cultivate Cornwall CIC was set up  with the intention of strengthening the community, increasing employable skills and increased mobility opportunities. Some of the ways we achieve this include holding events that bring communities together, hosting support and training sessions tailored to all ages and abilities and enabling travel through Europe with Erasmus+ as both hosts and participants on education programs.

    We find that poverty so often poses as a barrier to inclusion and progression. Working at grass roots level in the Cornish communities where help is most needed; we aim to take down these barriers providing opportunities for all and inclusion for everyone no matter your background or circumstance.

    The work we have managed so far could only have been accomplished with the help of the fantastic volunteers who have stepped forward and helped out. Often without recognition they have worked so hard to help improve the communities around us.

    In the short period of time Cultivate Cornwall has managed to have an impact on 1000`s of people;- from the Nerf Wars in the woods to carnival costume workshops, from Share Fair’s to Fashion Shows, mentoring provision to youth groups. The activities delivered by cultivate Cornwall are far reaching and cover a huge range of beneficiaries ensuring our impact can be felt across the community.

    Cultivate Cornwall aims with its activities to meet the following objectives;

    • To prevent poverty being a barrier to inclusion or progression
    • To help bring forward the voice of the youth in our community
    • To develop and encourage community inclusion
    • To help the young people in our society with the chance to improve employment prospects for the future.
