Coming of Age – A call to action for artists aginst Climate Change
Project Category: Other
COP21 is the largest-ever gathering of world leaders to discuss climate change and more than 190 nations will be represented in the Paris talks from 30th November to the 11th December 2015. It is widely recognised that these will be the crunch talks in negotiating the vital international agreements in the battle against climate change.
Coming of Age recognises the need for local actions that link to the big issues being discussed at COP21 and as part of the international ArtCop21 movement.
During COP21 artists will converge on Paris to make their voice heard, but to make the debate more real and more relevant at a local level we want to ensure the discussion is heard not just in Paris, but in venues and communities across the UK.
Coming of Age is a call to action for arts organisations, venues and artists. It’s aim is to stimulate a national programme of creative interventions during or around the time of the COP21 Conference (November 30th to December 11th) that will bring climate change into focus and involve audiences and communities through the UK and at many levels.
We all know of the power of the arts to influence hearts and minds COP21 is a real opportunity to bring the issues being discussed in Paris directly to our audiences here in the UK.
By coming together under the umbrella of Coming of Age, our collective impact will be amplified, significant, sobering and celebratory.
We will ensure that marketing and PR raises the profile of our collective endeavour. And well make sure that you are part of an emerging community around arts and climate change that goes beyond COP21 and looks to the future.
We know the timescale is short but we want artists and cultural bodies across the UK to become part of Coming of Age, and that includes you!
