  • Our Story

Funding was awarded to improve our gardening facilities.  We built seven raised beds which the children have enjoyed planting a range of vegetables in and tending to them during playtimes and lunchtimes.

A local garden centre kindly donated some vegetables to get us started.

We have had a bumper crop this year which we entered in to the Beamish Leek show.  We came away with two trophies and three awards: First Prize for cucumber, Second Prize for vegetables and Second Prize for Leeks.

We are delighted with the huge improvement in the vegetables and the significant improvement in the pupils’ engagement in gardening.

The children have enjoyed eating the lettuce produces in their daily salads and are looking forward to eating beetroot, brussel sprouts etc this term.

We are very grateful to Greggs for their donation which made all this possible!
