Our Story
The aim of the Camden Butterfly Trust is to establish a network of wildlife-friendly butterfly conservation gardens throughout Camden. Our first garden in Primrose Hill is approx. 74 square metres and is in need of some attention. The wildflowers that were sown in the spring should have cleared before they set seeds. I’m in the process of clearing the spent wildflowers the seeds of which, being scattered on the ground, are being gobbled up by the local pigeons. What they miss, if they germinate, will grow back as weeds.
The soil is in a poor condition and will need copiuos amounts of conditioners to render it workable. The site will also need several tons of fresh top soil to increase the depth to facilitate the roots of the shrubs we will be planting. To attract volunteers, we will be working on this site on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you’d like to help, please contact me for further details.
