    What are we doing?

We are working with people over a six week period to do Book of You. Book of You is a digital reminiscence tool  that uses, words, pictures, video, music and voice record as a form of life reminiscence therapy.

    Benefits of Book of You

It maintains or increases a sense of personal identity
It improves mood and well being
Knowledge of the person with dementia is essential in providing person-centered care if already living in or visiting a care home as a day visitor.
Sessions are lively and fun and new friendships are formed

We are tracking using before and after questionnaires how Book of You helps people living with dementia, mainly looking at how much helps mood, mental health and well-being.

How has Book of You helped people in the past?

Isolation and dementia can both affect peoples mental health in a huge way, including causing depression, social anxiety and low self-esteem. From working with people in the past we have seen first hand the benefit Book of You sessions make. One lady we worked with said she never looked at her life positively until Book of You and it has changed her whole outlook and mindset. Dementia can also make family members feel distant from the person living with dementia as their personality can in some cases change drastically, or they can become despondent and uninterested in things. Book of You can help bring people together and focus on the positive things that have happened in that persons life, it gives them something to do as a family and the benefits of reminiscence therapy are wonderful for everyone but particularly for people living with dementia.

    Would You Like to Volunteer?

Full training is provided and the app is simple to use.
