Through our training, we aim to arm barbers with the knowledge of how to do all spot suffering from mental health and be the support that person needs

After a lot of work, with help from Psychiatrists and mental health professionals, the development of BarberTalk Live and Online has had a complete review and created the half-day facilitation that combines mental health training with barbering demos and the video conference version which has been used recently due to Covid-19.
The idea is not to make barbers into counsellors or psychiatrists but with the aid of our four pillars of BarberTalk, RECOGNISE, ASK, LISTEN and HELP we can bridge the gap between the communities we serve and the resources that are available while providing a safe non-judgemental safe space to share, open up and or offload. Those who attend would be given some great skills to help them as barbers/hair pro in general, but more importantly, can save lives.

BarberTalk focuses on four pillars, these are:

Giving hair pros the ability to recognise the signs that may indicate there is a problem or issue

Arming hair pros with those hard to ask direct questions and the confidence to ask them

Possibly the most important thing we can do. Actively listening with empathy and without judgement

Helping barbers create a plan, have the knowledge of what resources are available and putting that all together to help look after our clients and colleagues

We don’t want barbers to become counsellors however, we would love our industry to embrace the trust we have earned to make a difference and be able to become that first step on that journey, directing people in the right direction to where they can receive the help they need.

The BarberTalk Online training will be available to be taken nationwide so will have less limitations.
