Our Story
Launched on Monday 25th February 2019, our ’33’ project highlights 33 great opportunities for London Schools to prepare for London Climate Action Week (LCAW). The project has the hashtag: ‘Love London. Love the World.’
’33’ is a campaign to promote great projects taking place across London which can support schools to become more sustainable places. We will highlight 33 projects to represent the 33 London Boroughs.
This project was created last year for the first LCAW. We have kept it going in 2020 because they are still great resources. But feel free to check out our new project this year, the Doorways to Sustainable Schools Podcast where we interview some of the amazing people involved in making London schools more sustainable places.
With 33 and the new podcast we aim to support the visionary, LCAW but also Greater London National Park City project by showing some ways schools can get involved. It will also actively promote the amazing Outdoor Classroom Day campaign.
This 33 project aims to:
- Connect London’s schools to great resources based on their city and
- To suggest ways to introduce a global perspective to their work.
Each blog is based on two major curriculum resources available freely to teachers:
- The London Curriculum– developed by experts in their field working in partnership with the Mayor of London and his Education and Youth team.
- The World’s Largest Lesson– produced by Project Everyone in partnership with Unicef to help schools address three major challenges:
- End extreme poverty
- Fight inequality and injustice
- Tackle climate change
Each blog aims to provide ways for teachers to reflect on these big issues through their own contexts, subject areas and from a London perspective.
- London’s National Park City turns One Year old in July 2020. Find out more.
- Outdoor Classroom Day: Next one is 5th November 2020 Sign up to Outdoor Classroom Day
- London Climate Action Week: 14th – 20th November 2020
Thanks to the teams at City Hall and Project Everyone for providing these great resources. Some of my blog has been adapted from their websites.
Keep an eye on our updates through this project page and through our tweets @LdnSusSchools.
