Autism, Mental health and Covid-19
This three parts workshop will explore topics around stress, depression, anxiety disorders, suicide prevention and eating disorder and how these mental health conditions affect autistic people and their families/carers.
The discussion will also cover how restrictions and changes brought by the covid-19 pandemic could affect the mental health and emotional wellbeing of autistic people and their families/carers.
Management of these mental health conditions will be discussed in details.
Dr Eddie Chaplin is Professor of Mental Health in Neurodevelopmental Disorders in the Department of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities in the School of Health and Social Care at LSBU. Eddie specializes in mental health of neurodevelopmental disorders; his current research relates to ND in offender populations and developing services for this group. Eddie has extensive clinical experience in local and national mental health services for people with neurodevelopmental Disabilities including autism, intellectual disabilities and ADHD.
