The Climate Camp 12.30 Swoop It worked! “A good turnout” according to a dedicated twitterer; people poured in from all corners as they synchronised their watches to get to the Climate Camp at 12.30 down at Bishopsgate.
And what a gorgeous day for it too. So far the protesters have been peaceful and everyone is happy with the outcome although there have been rumours that down the road bankers have been waving £20 notes out of their windows antagonising the people below. Can this be true?!
Up to 100,000 protesters are expected to stage rallies and marches during the week on pretty much every topic under the sun. It seems that Climate Camp is the place to be though, not least for the music, poetry, talks, discussions, meditation classes••• People are already setting up their up their tents and look to be there for the long haul.
It will be interesting to see whether any of the protesters’ demands will be met, it seems like there is a global consensus that things aren’t going the way people want so will this G20 summit be the turning point?
I’m there in spirit as I’m on crutches and unable to move very far•••
