Our local community has been hit very hard by the Covid-19 pandemic and has drastically altered our project to one in delivering a range of emergency response services to our registered time bank members – local BAME families with children under 12 years of age who come from an immense range of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious backgrounds. We live on a large high rise council housing estate with many shared communal areas and lifts that has created many “hot spots” for the virus to spread. We provide emotional and practical support to each other using time bank principles of reciprocity and mutual self-help to get through a very challenging period in our lives. One major response has been the setting up of a Food Bank so that no child or family need to go hungry and to provide phone befriending support and home deliveries where families are having to self-isolate as a result of Covid bvirus within their household.
