News from the Community Gardens November 2020

It’s now a few days into the new lockdown and we hope you are all keeping well. Sadly we have had to cancel our gardening sessions during this time, but the session leaders are able to garden alone and keep the community gardens in shape until we can welcome our volunteers back again. However, the gardens are still looking great with the cotoneaster berries now out which will keep the birds happy and the very last of the cosmos still blooming.

It is still so mild for November but it’s great to see that the recently sown sweet peas have already germinated and the sprouts are nearly ready for harvesting. With slightly less to do in the gardens now with winter nearly upon us it has been a good time to catch up with the seasonal maintenance tasks. The secateurs have been cleaned, oiled and sharpened and we’re planning on working our way through all the tools so they are ready to use when we are allowed to open the sessions once again.

We’ll keep you updated as to when we are allowed to open safely again and in the meantime take care and look after yourselves.

All gardening sessions currently cancelled from 5th November until further notice.
