News from the Community Gardens February 2021

The Bishop’s Palace vegetable plot prepped and ready for the season ahead.

We hope you are all keeping well. The current lockdown is still in full force so we are unable to currently run any sessions, but the session leaders have been keeping on top of the gardens and orchards and working hard so they will be ready to spring into action when we are allowed to reopen again.

The gardens have seemed to escape the worst of the recent frosts, snow and winds, with only the broad beans looking a little sad and cold. However the spring bulbs are poking up through the cold soil signalling that spring is on its way! The snowdrops have begun to open and even the first rhubarb shoots have made an appearance. Our first oriental salad mixes have done really well in the greenhouse providing a few meals during these colder months.

We are so looking forward to welcoming everyone back again and will let you know as and when we will be able to do this safely. In the meantime look after yourselves.

Regular gardening sessions – All sessions closed until further notice.
