Miles of fun, and then….relax

Hi! Once again communicating from my bedroom where there is (relative) peace and quiet. Well, what a couple of weeks it has been! We got our activity bags packed and delivered but ended up having to do over 90 due to the increase in our numbers throughout lockdown. The bags went down a treat – feedback was that the children loved the various activities and the parents could see how much thought had gone into them. We even had Sonic delivering for us, who took time out from his busy schedule to really put a smile on everyone’s faces! We’ve covered a huge area for deliveries, from Cumbria over to near Morpeth, then across towards Newcastle, Gateshead Borough as well as large parts of central and rural Tynedale. Our Tanga family is huge and we couldn’t be prouder of this.

Part of our activity pack was a grow your own sunflower kit and to link in with this we’ve started a little competition for the tallest sunflower. I’m not going to win this as I was late planting ours (I’m in trouble with the kids for this) but it would look somewhat dodgy if our household won anyway!

Apart from the activity packs, we have also kicked off our bespoke meditation and relaxation course designed by Nicky Robertson & Associates for our parents. We’ve had a good uptake on this and hope it helps reduce some anxieties in our parents and carers, to help keep them going during this difficult time.

We’ve carried on with virtual Tanga on Friday’s at 5.30pm, but moved over to Zoom now which seems a little better. Gotta keep with the times 🙂 The kids love seeing each other’s faces even if they’re all talking at once! Parent catch up’s have turned into a bit of a social affair with an optional glass of wine (or maybe ale for some of our Dads) but a guaranteed giggle. I’m enjoying those but also thinking about what else we can do to entertain the grown ups, a quiz was mentioned a few weeks ago so that may be the next step… when I can get around to it!

We have also started a Gofundme page to try to raise some funds for when we return. Obviously we want to recommence the club in the safest way possible and this will probably entail higher costs. The link is on Facebook’s Tanga Hexham page and we would be eternally grateful for any contributions 🙂

Anyway I’m off to try to relax and do a bit of our amazing meditation course. Please do check us out and give our page a like on Facebook, and if you’re a parent or carer of a child with additional needs and would like to talk to other people in a similar situation just give us a shout – it doesn’t really matter where you’re located these days, Tanga will be there to help!

    Stay safe
