The Hive are looking for energetic, skilled facilitators to lead outdoor missions for children at our (non-residential) camps in Greater London throughout the summer holidays.ROLE: Mission Facilitators (Bushcraft and Forest School)COMMITMENT: Week-long (non-residential) camps during July and August (see dates below)FEE: £100-£130 / day depending on experienceOur Bushcraft Missions are designed like mini adventures with a focus on bushcraft and nature skills, gamified challenges and survivaltechnology.MAIN DUTIES- Lead the delivery of the “Mission Flow” (activity plan) to a group of young people from 8 – 13 years old, ensuring that learning objectives are met.
- Engage the group with bushcraft and survival based activities including shelter building, fire lighting, whittling and wild cooking skills.
- Nurture teamwork and group dynamics, making sure that all children are participating, achieving their goals and enjoying themselves.
- Ensure close and safe supervision of the children at all times.
- Supervise some lunch and break times following a team rota.
- Support the set-up, pack down and maintenance of all mission resources.
- Interact professionally with parents and carers.
- Participate in 1-2 day(s) of Hive training
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE- Knowledgeable and skilled in the fields of bushcraft and / or forest schools: please specify in your application.
- Experience of shelter building, fire lighting, whittling and wild cooking with children.
- Experience of delivering practical workshops with children or young people (either in a school or an informal learning setting).
- Significant experience of working in nature and the outdoors.
- An energetic and playful approach with an instinctive understanding of what motivates children.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- An Enhanced DBS is required before a role can be offered
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE- Experience of using tablet technology (preferably with children).
- Paediatric First Aid Trained or equivalent qualification
