The #Greggs4good  Greggs Foundation has given us opportunities to expand our project and develop our community work such as developing inter-generational projects with our young people and elderly members of our community. This is something that we hope to continue with further funding and grow to form long lasting relationships, bridging the gap between the generations.

Members of our Impact Youth Project (9-12 year olds) decided that they would like to visit a residential care home before Christmas and take the residents homemade Christmas gifts.

Across the groups our young people worked together to create hampers of homemade gifts for the elderly including; canvases, reindeer food, iced biscuits, potted plants and a small self-care set.

The young people went to the residential care home and met with the residents. They took word searches and quizzes to ask the residents about what Alnwick Town was like when they grew up and their childhoods. The residents and young people both enjoyed sharing stories from their childhoods.

Since the initial visit we have held a follow up visit, with the young people saying that they would like to continue this project on a regular basis.
