Are you hungry for good news? Us too. Thankfully there’s bundles of it. You just have to know where to look.
The papers are full to bursting with the challenges we face, from climate crisis to social inequality. It’s an overwhelming picture. What we don’t read enough of are the inspiring solutions bringing about real and positive change. In communities up and down the country we see humans connecting and building creative solutions to the issues of the day.
We’re always striving to spread these positive stories further and wider, to champion grassroots projects and share their wonderful work.
Since September last year, we’ve published a page bi-weekly in the Liverpool Echo (the city’s widest read paper), sharing stories from community projects making an impact in the local Liverpool area.
Stories of people knitting donations for the local neonatal unit. Stories of people transforming unused spaces into community gardens. Stories of intergenerational support and friendship amongst neighbours. Stories of ‘beers with benefits’ which fund female-focused employment mentoring.
Stories of people taking community action in wild and wonderfully diverse ways.
Be careful now – Semblers have even been known to snuffle back the tears at particularly moving features!
The stories are written by and for the local community, celebrating and highlighting grassroots community action across the Liverpool Area. It’s a chance for projects to shout about what they do, spread the word on events and projects, and reach a new audience. Plus a chance to celebrate their achievements.
So often people don’t know how many brilliant things are happening right on their doorstep. This bi-weekly page is an opportunity for local projects to change that, attract support and connect with like-minded people.
And, of course, a page packed with positive stories offers an inspiring dose of feel-good for us all, which is why we want to share it with you.
Last year we only scratched the surface – stay tuned for a whole heap of inspiring community stories from Liverpool and beyond coming your way in 2020.
